Welcome to my new blog! I decided to take the time and figure out blogger (Google's blogging service) to take full advantage of the customization options it offers. I wanted to take control of the whole width of the screen to be able to show you larger images since that's one of the main purposes of this blog. I'd love to hear your feedback and please let me know if you have any issues viewing this blog.

The old blog still lives and will stay online, so don't worry if you have photos or slideshows hosted there. Wedding at the California Country Club

On Saturday Marlon and I shot another great couple this time in the San Gabriel Valley. Alicia and Juan are so much fun to be around, I knew from the first time I met with them that the big day was gonna be all laughs... and a few tears of course.

I haven't had time to through all the images yet but here are a few that I liked...

1.4 ;-) ... hey I'm a Nikon guy... (photographers' inside joke)

The beautiful bride and her Dad minutes before walking down the aisle

This has been happening a lot in my weddings lately... no injuries yet!

Congratulations Angie & Hector!

The second wedding of the weekend was on Saturday with the ceremony taking place in Pico Rivera and the reception in Long Beach. It was a long day but very rewarding... thanks to everyone for treating us like friends!
Some images...

I love this moment during the reception

NOTE for photographers: I did a lot of 'foofing' during this reception. For those of you who don't know the 'technical term' you can watch the great Dennis Reggie explaining it in detail right under the following photos ;-)
In the next photo I did it with a Nikon D2X, 50mm @ f1.4, and SB-800 flash, no diffuser, turned 90° to the right ISO400 and a slow shutter speed. The wall to the right where the light bounced off is well over 50 feet away. You can see the highlight and shadow areas clearly on the groom's face and on the bride's forearm... very flattering.

In this case I bounced the flash off the back wall and ceiling at a 45° angle so as not to get the 'bright white ceiling'. Nikon D2X, 10.5mm fisheye @ f2.8.

Calvin... I mean Hector ;-) flying up in the air and the wife with a nervous laugh on the right

Have fun in Republica Dominicana!

Wedding at La Venta Inn, Palos Verdes

I finally rested up a little after back-to-back weddings this weekend and had the chance to go through a few images from Friday's wedding.

The weather was great and even though we had a 180* view (or more) of the Pacific Ocean at La Venta Inn, it was still hot hot hot for a good part of the day.

Check out their engagement session slideshow

Marlon is the close-up specialist and he got this super sharp shot of the rings

And a little flavour from my country... Tango for their first dance

Anyez & Patrick
Thanks and Congratulations!!!

Another Happy Blogger!

I've been helping many of my photographer friends with their blogs lately. Of course images are very important for us and most of the blog services make it a little bit difficult to showcase images properly, but there's always a way... I'm glad I can be of help ;-)

Suzie Seagraves is an awesome family portrait and children photographer from Orlando, Florida... she contacted me a few days ago to revamp her blog with larger images, custom headers and menus, etc... and here are the results:

Michelle Robinson, Nataly Lemus and Miguel Pola are next...

Shoot me an email ( rarpia at yahoo dot com) if you need help with your blog!

Wedding at the Mission Inn Riverside

Yesterday I headed to Riverside to shoot Marie and Mat's wedding at the Mission Inn. It was my first time shooting there and loved the place.

The core of the property was a 2-story, 12-room adobe boarding house called the "Glenwood Cottage", begun by Christopher Columbus Miller in 1876. It predated the founding of Riverside. Miller's son Frank expanded the boarding house in 1902 and essentially continued obsessively building, in a wild variety of shapes, until he died in 1935.

The building now occupies an entire city block. It is often considered an oasis in the middle of a city.

Now to some images from this beautiful celebration...

Thanks for the referral Anyez and Patrick... it was great seeing you!

Gallery Wrap mounting for Fine Art Canvas

I recently ordered another canvass with one of my favorite images of all times for my studio.
In this case, it's a 30x40 in. Your image is printed larger than the final size and the print is then wrapped around a thick wooden stretcher bar. Staples are on the back of the bar. Framing paper covers up the back of the bars and metal hangers and bumpers are applied to the corners. The Gallery Wrap is ready to hang with no additional work needed and they look awesome!

Gallery Wraps are available in two different depths, 1-1/8" and 2-1/2".

CLICK HERE for more information about Fine Art Gallery Wraps and email me at rarpia@yahoo.com to order yours with any of your images.

~Nikon D200 included for size comparison~

About the image: I shot this image of Julie on September 23, 2006 at Sandacre in Palm Springs. This Spanish hacienda style property was once Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio's home... actually, on this shot Julie is going up to what was once Marilyn's bedroom.
Anyway, we were supossed to shoot Julie coming down the stairs but when I saw her running up I grabbed ONE frame from very far away with my 70-200 and I absolutely love it because it's not perfect.
Julie and her husband George are now wedding photographers in the Victorville area and they rock!
